How much Vacuum ?
My 65 - 327/365 has been running rough so I had the carburator tuned on the car . After I left I was still unhappy with the car so I pulled the distributor and Lo & Behold the drive gear was backwards !!!I reversed it ,set the timing & dwell and it runs MUCH better , but the idle still seems rough .He set the idle by adjusting to the highest vacuum , I noticed his meter read 5 ( i don't rember the name of the units) is that in the normal range ? If not where do i look for leaks besides the carb gasket ?
Thanks KLEN

Well, using my cheapo Sears vacuum guage, I get a best of about 13 inches with a decent cam (which is pretty good, I think ). I also use the vacuum guage to tune....it works pretty good! There are lots of places you can lose vacuum. Check all the intake manifold gaskets, the carb gaskets, and head gaskets. Also check the brake hose to the master cyllinder.

Be sure your #1 wire is indexed properly in the cap - on the terminal near the RH side
of the window when viewed from above. It's clearly shown in the '63 shop manual.
What is your idle speed/vacuum reading?

Re: How much Vacuum ? (SWCDuke)
I recently found that I had a vac leak at the window washer vac canister on my 62. It has no vac advance. Noticed that it was running lean at cruise too.

My (stock) '69 Z/28 [same cam as yours, less cubes, bigger carb] pulls about 10"-11" Hg. at 900 rpm idle, for reference.
