I am getting ready to put in the Dynamat.. how exactly do you guys suggest I do this?
Should I use extra 3M adhesive spray?
Have you gone so far as to cut templates before cutting the Dynamat, or just start cutting?
Dynamat is self sticking. Peal the back off and carefully lay it out. I used a rubber hammer to form it over the contours of the floor but they recommend a roller to roll it out.
It really takes the shape of anything it covers if you press/tap it down.

Mikey:
This Dynamat stuff is terrific and easy to install. Lightly clean the surface you are going to attach it to and it will stick like glue. Brian (AWORKS) suggested it to me for my '60. I can't thank him enough. I bought a container of Lizard Skin for $179 and did not like the stuff. It dries hard as a rock. How can it attenuate the sound when it is as hard as the underlying (fiberglass) material?
Dynamat is a rubberized material with fantastic sound absorbtion qualities. In the event it gets wet from a leaker (Preposterous!!!) it cannot obsorb moisture. Tough to top that.

Lizard Skin is a ceramics-based product, so it hardens as it dries yet keeps ceramic's noise reducing and heat repelling attributes (its best feature). I have talked to several car restorers/builders who now swear by it so I plan on using it on my car. When I get to that stage I'll report back. How much of it do you have left, BTW???
Here are some pics of the install so far.. I really like this stuff.. kinda of hard to screw it up since it stretches so well.. How much did you guys use?? I had a Bulk Pack (36 sq ft) and this is as far as I got! Frustrating because now the carpet will have to wait until next weekend.

Half a container.
Well, I have two coats of it on the floor and up onto the firewall to the cowl. It hardens like a friggen rock. Tap the Lizard Skin with your finger nail or screw driver then do the same to adjacent bare glass the sound is identical. It might stop heat but I have doubts about it stopping noise. Hope I'm wrong.
Now I tap the Dynamat covered area from underneath the car doing my best to simulate the errant rock and it is almost inaudible. Tapping the bare glass next to it sounds like...well like it had Lizard Skin covering it -a sharp noise.
Hey, use what makes you comfortable. I'll do my Dad's '56 in Dynamat as well. Best of luck whatever you decide.
Be hot stuff to do a comparison test one with a C-1 with Dynamat and another with Lizard Skin, identical tires, shocks and all new suspension.
So far I have been through 36 sq ft.. I suspect I will use 50 total. Maybe I am using more than I need to?
Although I haven't used it on my C2, I did use it on a '57 Chevy rebuild and ran out early with 24 sq ft. I am currently redoing a '55 Chevy and ordered 48 sq ft. From my experience, the more the better and it works...
