Default air filter

ok, new engine and intake and everything. one problem. need an extremely low profile air filter, suggestions please? i tried a 9"x2 round, but it barely rubs on right side of hood. tried an 8x12 oval that i offset, but it too rubs a bit. love the 8x12 cause it has cool vette flags on it, but got to keep my hood. i turn to the experts, thanks in advance. oh, had to offset it, cause my intake is 1" off center of hood. dont ask me why it is. i wanted filter to be in the tunnel of hood for clearance.

Try one with a dropped-base bottom and a 2 1/4 to 2 3/4" filter

Default do they make a dropped base for a speed demon

i dont think they have a dropped base for a speed demon. i tried the website and could not find one. will try again. those wedge air filters and bases are expensive. i mean, 230 for an air filter. no way. i was thinking of edelbrock triangle, mesh type. but will look for dropped base. .

The drop base will work on the Demon it just requires a little persuasion with a 8lb ball-peen hammer.

The drop base I have pictured is the correct 66 L79 drop base air cleaner bottom.

I've used the drop base on a Holley, Edelbrock and now a BG Speed Demon.. They've all fit under the drop base air cleaner bottom. Dave

Steve,
Thanks for the feedback. Already have a hard line for the fuel. This pic was from late last year. Just joking about the air filter using a drop base. I have a BB hood so it all fits.

Thanks
