Corvette Central used to list them but they are no longer available at least through them.

K2, thanks for the response. I know I'd seen them listed, but couldn't find them in any of my current catalogs. Does anyone know of a source still offering larger sway bars?

Try Addco. Here is the website:

http://www.swaybars.com/search/select.asp

They show (for 53 -62 C1's) a 7/8" for the front, and a 3/4" for the rear, and the notes state that they are larger than the originals, but fit the factory locations.

Have not used them, so this is not an endorsement, but they have been around forever!

The standard front bars, I believe were 13/16" dia. Don't know if 7/8" was a factory option. The one Corvette Central was offering was 1" dia. I had ordered the bar and bushings from them and I got the bushings for the 1" bar but they said the bar had been discontinued. This was about 3 years ago. If you find one I'll make you a super deal on the 1" poly bushings.

In reality a bigger front bar will cause additional understeer unless you also stiffen the rear bar accordingly. They really don't need any more understeer so unless one is planning serious track time and chassis tuning, putting the green towards good adjustable shocks might be a better investment.

Thanks for the additional suggestions. I just got an email from Ecklers. While searching their site, I found a listing for a 7/8" front kit and a larger rear kit. They list a 1" front bar, but say they are out of stock. I will give them a call tomorrow and find out if the 1" bar is still available.
