Minimum Comp. ratio
What is the min. comp. ratio that would work with a 327 and the LT 1 cam? I have a 68 pass. car 327 in my 65 that I am thinking of rebuilding. It was orig. a 365 shp. but the orig. motor is long gone.

I am building my stock 327-365 with the LT-1 and I am targeting for 10.5:1 comp. Not sure why you would want to run the min. comp. ratio. You should be asking, "What is the max I can get away with on pump gas"?

The better question is what would your dynamic compression ratio be? You can run 11.0:1 if you have a cam that has a late intake valve closing. If you read up on engine builds you will find that those running on pump gas with iron heads are running between 8.5 and 9.5. If you switch to aluminium heads you can safely run 9.5 to 10.5, however as I said above the dynamic CR is what really matters. The closer the DCR is to 8.5 the better you are.
