Default Bodyman expert question

I have one of those silly '67s where the rear top of the driver's door does not come up flush with the rear quarter. It sits between 1/4" and 3/8" low. All body lines are lined up, doors fit perfect otherwise. I understand from some NCRS guys that yes, there are a bunch of cars like this. Now, how do I best fix it?

This area has that slope from above the door handle up to the rear deck and is curved inwards up to the window. Do I build the area up with layers of glass and then grind the inside of the door jam down so it isn't 3/8" -1/2" thick when completed?

Or do I use something like a glass filled bondo to do it with and leave the door jam alone. I need to be careful so the driver's door doesn't look totally different than the passenger side too.

Yes, this is a common problem with 67s especially the drivers door. I usually just leave them alone, but if you want to fix it, you will have to make the decision for yourself if you are comfortable with the thick top door edge. I would certainly use glass reinforcement if I was going to cut out the bottom side to reduce the thickness.

Dealt with this same issue on the 65 yesterday and decided to leave it the way it was. The doors sit about 3/16th lower on both sides. Seemed odd when it was pointed out but it's another one of those things that sort of went unnoticed over the years. Maybe look at a bunch of nice mid-years pictures and give it some thought.

Default Thanks

Thanks Wanyne and Glen. I'll see what a few layers of glass does to help it out. If it was only 3/16" I would be happy.
