Dome volume of an SHP piston is about 5-6cc.

Using this http://www.csgnetwork.com/compcalc.html
with a 5.3 dome it works out to be about 11.7 static

'stock deck height' can be anything from .025 to .045 in the hole, even on the different ends of the same block, which means 11.1 to 11.7

(ask me how I know )

The speed pro F/M pistons that I am going to use are +.020 over / .125 dome. = 5.3 CC

With my deck height (.026), and I have not CC'd the heads yet, I am looking at .040 head gasket to get 10.5:1

Anymore then 10.5:1 and you are going to need more then pump gas.

Thanks guys,

i was hoping to be over 11 to 1. I'm running all stock componants but the cam... which still needs 10 to 1 to work correctly, and if I ever decide to put the stock 30-30 back in, i wanted the 11.50 to 1 that these motors should have originally had.

thanks

Aaron
