Default Bugs

I live in S. E. Michigan where the bugs are real bad. What is the best way to clean the bugs off front of car?

Clay Bar - get in local auto store.

- will take them off easily with no harm to finish

- then do a local small re-wax

- this is much better than the bug remover spray or plastic scaper

I lived in South Florida for over 30 years and twice a year there is a plague of varmits called "love bugs", allegedly introduced into the state by the rocket scientists at the U. of Florida in the hopes they'd eat mosquitos.

There's almost nothing worse than the mess these things make when splattered against the front and windshield. And they dry very quickly into a rock-hard glob.

Another rocket scientist ( probably a long-haul trucker ) came up with the best solution........Coca Cola !!

Not Pepsi, not Shasta, not the cheap store brands........it has to be the real thing, Coke. It needs to be washed away with water, but doesn't seem to affect the wax or finish.

I put a mask on it when I drive in bug country. Use Armor All on the mask so the bugs fall off.

This one is four piece - to cover the bumpers and lower valence. The air dam keeps the bugs off the suspension and adds about 1.5mpg at 75-80mph

We moved to Florida last June and was told to use Pam cooking spray to coat the paint first (so the bugs don't stick). Have not tried it on the Vettes (only used it on the Dodge Magnum).

And I use Downey fabric softner sheets (with water) to remove the bug remains if they do stick.

So far no damage. Not looking forward to them (they are coming soon).
