One of my friends is a realtor and he just listed a house last eve to sell. In the divorce the wife got the house and both Corvettes. She don't want them and wants to clear them out NOW!! :D I phoned her last night and am going over this afternoon to look at them. The first is a 68 roadster that is in resto process. Body work done and in primer. Lotsa new ready to go on parts such as wiring harness', door panels, carpets, etc. No engine or tranny (4 spd). She wants 5K. The other is (or was) a nicely running 65 coupe. Non original 327 (365hp) 4 spd, side piper. Red with black striped BB hood, (she says 'stinger'), been sitting in garage for 6 yrs. She says batt is dead but will run. She wants 20K but thinks it may be too hi with NOM. I've learned alot re-doing my 64 about these mid-years but would appreciate some sage advice if I'm gonna lay out some big $$$'s tonight. What should I pay to (1) keep or (2) resell? I gotta keep my heart outta this deal this time. Thanks guys......

Keep us updated ! Condition of paint, chrome and other cosmetics will make the price negotiable. 20 sounds high to me, for a coupe thats been sitting for 6 years(one of the worst things to do to a car). Search http://www.traderonline.com and see what people are asking. Snap some pics and post them. I would think in the 17 - 18 range would be right, wholesale anyway ??

Dave, The "sage" advise is above, but I can at least offer my personal vette story. I bought mine ('63 vert) from the previous second owner of 25 yrs. It's a "block-numbers" matching car, but has a lot of other misc. incorrect stuff. It was a running, driving, car that needed a little TLC. I paid $16,000.00 for it. Granted, I think I got a pretty good deal, but that should help you form an opinion of the asking price for the '65. Sounds a touch high to me. Based on my story at least.
I saw a pretty nice '64 vert last week that looked and drove great for $19,000.00. Use your best judgement bro, good luck!!! Maybe you could get them both in a "package deal"!!! Brian
That '68 might be "worth more in parts" but as far as a rest goes, all of the hard work is done. Some time organising, some time spent in the paint shop and all should be well with that car. The price is a bit high though. $5k for a disassembled non-running car with no engine or trans? This is like the "'68 sitting in a field" thread in the C3 section. I'd say it's probably worth NO MORE than $2k or $2500. Without the original engine it isn't going to be a "100 point" car ever, so I'd be deducting for that big time.
Hmmm...tell her that I'll take it for $2k if she'll box it up and ship it to Michigan :D Then my son and I will have one heck of a project. Should be ready for his 16th b-day (10 years from now!!).

OK, looked them over last night. The 68 has huge flares on it. They look to be done right though. Body is very nice and ready for paint IMO. There are prolly 10-15 marked boxes in the car. Basically gutted. The 65 is kinda cobby, not as clean as I would have liked. Stinger hood fits crappy but the paint is basically sound, bumper chrome needs a redo, needs a master cyl, and seats are torn. I would opt for a new interior. Some minor spider cracking on front clip hood area. It did start though. Needs major tune-up after sitting for 6+ years. I got the #'s off the engine so maybe someone can help me on this. Casting # is 3858180 which shows 64-67 327. The tab on the block # is T06I3HCR. I don't have this info, anybody? I'd like to offer her 10K for the 65 and if the 68 is good for hard to find parts try to get it for say 2K. Thanks for any advice guys...
