Default C2 tachometer cable

I posted a question last week on my broken tachometer cable for my 65. Ordering a new one seems to be a bit of a problem. Three different catalogs are out of stock and won't be available for a couple of weeks. One company has one but tells me that it is 25 1/4 inches long. The replacement that broke and the old one that I took out ( its condition indicates that it may be original) are the same length 27 inches long. The tech on the phone says the 25 inch is the correct size for 65 and I remember seeing a catalog that said new replacements are 2 inches shorter. Can anyone verify if the 25 inch cable is the correct size?

Last time I had my cluster out I measured mine, and it was 25-3/4".

I've been using Paragon Corvettes since I bought my 66 coupe last year, and have very good luck and very happy with the quality of the parts. They show 27" cable, shows GM part # and also shows in stock

So I just contacted Paragon again who told me yesterday morning that the cables were backordered till late May or early June. Still backordered. Asked him about using a cable that was 25 1/4 inch long that I found and he told me that the 27 inch cable currently offered was actually 2 inches shorter than original. I guess that is the catalog I saw the info in. I hate to buy the shorter one and find that it won't work.

I agree with John Z! Paragon is absolutely wrong. I have my original 67 cable in hand and it measures 23 1/2". There might be +/- 1/4" tolerance on cable lengths and they do vary (according to the catalogs) in length by several inches between the Midyear years but 27' is way....way to long. I know this because I installed one of the Paragon replacements and not only is it a real PIA to get looped under the dash it is so tight that it "chirps". Buy an inner drive cable fix kit and use your old outer. I think this information gets handed from gopher to gopher at Paragon and over the years the real length got lost.

My 65 coupe had a 27" cable in it that went bad. Ordered a replacement and it was the shorter cable. It was difficult to make the connection. Went back to the longer cable sheath and used a inner rebuild kit and it mated back up. I would not buy the shorter cable.

I'm thinkin' the 27" cable is for a C-3 and is a GM service replacement for the 25" C-2. Am I wrong?

I have a 67 roadster and the tach cable that I removed was 2 inches longer than the shorter replacement I got and the shorter one was perfect. No problem......
