Default Fitting question.

I am trying to get from my 5/8"-18 SAE flare (3/8" tube) @ the fuel pump outlet, to my -6AN stainless hose fitting.

Problem seems to be, no one has the SAE to AN fitting? I can get close though. I found a "5/8"-18 male to -6AN male" in Jegs catalog...but it doesn't have the flare on the 5/8" side!

What do you hot rodders use to solve this issue, because I know most fuel pumps have the 3/8" tube w/ SAE flare @ the outlet and the 5/8" swivel nut to secure the flare?

(vettrodder...I've seen some pretty lines/fittings on your ride!)

How about a short length of 3/8" tubing in the 5/8x18 side and use a tube nut to attach to the AN fitting.

If you're connecting to a stock C2 fuel pump, the outlet from the fuel pump is a 1/4 NPT inlet. Russel makes an elbow that will connect the AN fitting directly to the fuel pump. I connected a new Edelbrock carb with the Edelbrock filter assembly with AN fittings to the stock fuel pump on my 65 327-300hp. The Russel part number is 660820 - Elbow 90 degree X AN 6 Flare X 1/4" NPT. Sorry for the response if this isn't what you're trying to do.

Soppeng, your right,

That is what I'm trying to do, but I do in fact have a 3/8" SAE flare with a 5/8"-18 thread on the pump. I don't know the pump manufacturer as the pump came with a crate engine. But that really doesn't matter now as I know I need an SAE flare to a -6AN male adapter.

Appearently no one makes that kind of a beast, so it looks like I'll have to trash the new fuel pump it came with and get an Edelbrock pump with the NPT outlet. I actually have a 3/8" male NPT to -6AN that came with my new line from Russell. Just hate to toss a good pump and spend $60 to $80 on another.

I guess this fuel pump is a japanese oddball or somethin!
Thanks for your input though, you were on the right track!

Check for hydraulic fitting and hose fabricators in the yellow pages. They have all of these weird combinations...your not the 1st to run into them. Locally I use a place called "Hose Man" (honest!) and they can fix you up with any combo that you need (of coarse, except the obvious).

Not sure if this what you are looking for, Russel part # 640381 might work.

Yes, Yes, Yes, Don't know why I had such a hard time finding it!

Edelbrock just e-mailed me with that P/N too. I think when I was looking at the pictures I assumed I would see a flare at the 5/8"-18 end. There is a flare but it's inverted, :o

Arrrgggg...sometimes I wonder where my head is at!

Thanks Charles.
