I am going to be rebuilding my rear trailing arms this weekend and have some questions about installing the bushings. I purchased the bushing kits at Spring Carlisle and need some information about flaring the inner sleeve.
The sleeve is flared on the one side and I assume the other side has to be flared after the bushings are installed.
What is the installed measurement of the sleeve after the other side is flared?
I searched the forum and can’t find information on this. I have a 20 ton press to make the second flare.
Steve, I have a post running on rebuilding arms.Search my name and you should find it. I think I lost some of the pictures on the T arms, steering box, and differential posts so I'll post some here for you. The inner sleeve has to be flared after compressing the bushings. You have to use the countersunk washers too. I've worked on vettes that "mechanic's" rebuilt the rear arms on and found some interesting things. One had new bushings but the guy didn't know how to flare the sleeve or just didn't know he was supposed to, so he didn't!
Thanks for all the great info. I have one more question. I have end play on my differential side yokes. What are the specs on the side yoke play. Both sides seem to be the same.
