The problem is that AC was not installed until after somewhere around 14,000. The only known early car is #50 or #55, which was owned by Harley Earl new and was retrofitted on the line.
Look very carefully at this car.
The compressor is later than '63. The ac brackets appear stamped, but may be passenger brackets, not Corvette.
It is eBay item 4642303668.
Ask for pictures of the items under the driver's dash, the radiator support, and the inner fenders.
Your tech book library sounds pretty complete - I'd add the applicable NCRS Judging Guide.
My supposed original '58 doesn't have 2 digits for the day of the month???

VIN: J58S10748
PAD: F604CR
Casting: F28
I only have the history of the car back 2 owners to the early 70s ... both were reputable folks. Previous owner got the engine with the car less the fuel unit but never assembled it or put it in the car. 2 owners ago was a relatively well known local car collector and racer named Woody Portz who removed the engine and raced the car. When I bought the car it was missing the fuel unit but I got the block, heads, etc. I've had the car about 3-4 years.
Its been a while since I did the research but I believe that the numbers worked out according to Nolands book. In looking at them now it seems that mine only used one digit for the month and two digits for the day of the month. I believe that this was consistent with 1957. Noland claims that this was true through 1959 then the 4 digit month and day stamps began with 1960. Humm.
Is this not so?
Going back and re-reading the posts it appears that we are saying the same thing. Correct?
Day of the month is always 2 digit but month can be 1 or 2 digits until 1960 when it changed to 2 digits always. Correct?

Scared the crap out of me for a second!
