Default C1 lowering

Regarding the rear leaf springs on the C1.

The front attchment point for the leaf is a bolt item.

Has anyone mounted these upside down and on the oposite side?
RH mounted on the left side and LH mounted on the right.
This would mount the front leaf 1.5" higher on the frame and the rear attachment system would easily be modified to raise it 1.5".

I don't like lowering blocks and this would be a easy way to lower the vehicle and still use the stock leafs.

Any thoughts?

Mike

Might work on the front. I don't think there is enough room in the back.

Another thought is that a different spring arch can be used and no modification would be required.

Just got done with the mod. Yes it lowers the rear just a hair over an inch. You'll need to grind the tiny hanger locating "nub" off the frame brackets, its unnoticable and you don't need them anyway with 4 bolts attaching each hanger to the frame extensions. You'll need inch longer shackles at the rear such as http://www.amazon.com/Superior-13-40.../dp/B00029K202 ..normally used to raise everything from Novas to Broncos, but redrilled and cut to length in this application. It brings the C1 rear down just enough to keep proper perspective and proportion with modern shorter speed rated 65 series tires.

Here are some photo's of what I did to my 54. My objective was to get a 245/45/17 on a 8" rim, which I accomplished. The front was swapped side to side and pushed up and over to the frame. On the rear I made an offset shackle and reversed the eye.
