Default 1965 Vette ?

I must admit I am new when it comes to tech questions about c2 vettes. I am looking at a 1965 project..the car is complete minus engine and trans...how can i tell if the car was originally a bb or sb car besides the hood?? and if anyone has any info/advice on purchasing a 65 project it would be greatly appreciated....thnx

If the VIN is earlier than #13,000, it wasn't originally a big-block car. '65 big-blocks had the battery on the driver's side (behind an access panel in the inner fender), a rear stabilizer bar, a 7/8" front stabilizer bar (small-blocks were 3/4"), and steel caps with bolts attaching the inboard U-joints to the diff yokes (instead of U-bolts and nuts used on small-blocks). There are lots of other "clues", but those are the biggies.
