I took my passenger side vent window (roadster) out to replace the broken pivot T that goes into the regulator. In order to get the glass out of the frame, the rubber around the glass was pretty well torn up. Assuming I order a new "vent window mounting grip strip" from LIC (section 42 #43), is there any tricks to get the glass back into the frame with the rubber?
It was pretty hard to pull apart with the old rubber. I'm guessing it will be harder to get it all back together...
Thanks
You may want to check the Corvette Fever web site. They did an article about changing out the weather stripping on a c2 vert. It will get you in the ball park. Jerry
This article (for 55 chev?) says to place the rubberseal in the frame and tap in the windex lubricated glass with a rubber mallet. then trim the extra rubber from around the frame. http://www.hotrod.com/howto/8915/index.html
Did this not too long ago. The article is close. Make sure everything is clean first, of course. Then wrap the tape around the edge of the glass, position it properly in the frame, and push or tap it in. Then trim the excess. I didn't need to use any lubricants with mine.
