I'd like to put some Chevy rally wheels on my 1961 Vette. I need to know the maximum width of wheel and tire combo I can use. The suspension is stock, it maintains the original height. I ran across some 15x7 wheels, can those work?
15x8 seem pretty wide. Is there any issue with those wheels and the stock riding height? I've located some 15x7's that are really nice. I'd like to find out from someone if they do work before I mount a tire and try it out.
i have corvette rally 15x8's on my 62 and they work OK,,,, sorta.... (look awesome though)
i have 215 x 75 x 15s all the way around and the rear tire sidewall (not the tread) will hit the wheel well opening lip about halfway down the sidewall when the rearend goes down as with a bump in the road, hard cornering, etc...
i use airshocks on the rear to control that problem, but 15 x 7s might be a better choice

This evening I just test fit a rally wheel on my 59, and remembered why I did not mount a set years ago.
Did you guys machine the front hub to a smaller diameter? Rears fit OK, but front, at least on my 59, only allows the wheel to slide about 1/2 way onto the hub.
