Default nonoperating odometer

The speedometer seems to work fine, but neither trip or main odometer functions. Is there a quick check just to see if it's been disabled or is it more complicated?

Do a search on this ...many threads on this before ...here is my run down

Here is what happens ....
The speedo itself works off of magnatism from the first worm gear and is free floating. The first worm gear also drives the odometers(from a different section of the gear) that is usually the part that is worn out but the reason it gets worn is because the total and trip odometers are way too stiff and won't roll like they should.
Now everyone has it in their heads that they just need worm gears and get mad cause they can't find any but in truth they need all the gears and the odometers PLUS that #1 worm gear is magnetic and IS your calibration so if you replace it and don't have a way to recalibrate the unit ....you'll be SOL

Probably not the cable ...this is very common
