Default Keys for 64

My newly acquired 64 has two octagonal keys & one looks to be original. Each one has a different cut, yet they both operate door, ignition and glove box, but neither operates the drivers door lock.

Do they both work because locks are worn?

Is there originally just one key for all locks?

Should I have locks redone (if original) by locksmith or replaced?

One key operated all the locks on a 64. Sounds like someone replaced the drivers door lock and didnt rekey to the others. If you remove the driver side lock a compitant locksmith should be able to rekey it so that one key fits all.

My '64 came to me a year ago with a dog's breakfast of keys: One for ignition, one for glove box, one for doors, and one for the locking gas cap. Each has a single function. Apparently, over the years, different locks have been replaced and not re-keyed. I wonder which, if any, came with the car when new.

I look like the super at a NYC high rise when I pull out my Vette keys!
