Default C1 trunk liner

Years ago, I got a trunk liner from GM (at the time, a cheesy cardboard piece that covered up the rear deck spring area). it lasted about 2 years before it was trash and I threw it away.

Were the originals paperboard? i would assume so.

Does anybody make a nice masonite or aluminum panel trunk liner panel? Somethign taht could be painted of covered with some material? I hate the idea of spending a lot of money for something that would just be used as a pattern.

I suppose I could make my own pattern and have one made out of a heavy duty material, but would prefer something readily available.

Thanks,
Doug

Doug: I made mine out of thin "fiberboard" from Home Depot. Spray painted it black out of a can and it looks great. Good luck. Bert.

I was kind of looking at that area, and there is some wasted space in there if you don't have the hydraulics for a power convert top.

It doesn't look like it would be too hard to make a main panel, and then some removable smaller panels held in with hidden spring clips, for stowing jumper cables, spare fan belt, can of flat fix, simple tool kit, maybe a stereo power booster etc. then get it covered with some modern trunk/cargo area liner material or a low pile fabric like headliner material for a professional look.
