Default Vent Window Replace

I am in the process of replacing the vent wing pivot on my 67 convertible. I have the window and glass frame out of the car. After attaching the new pivot, am I going to be able to get it back in the car, or is it better to tack weld the pivot while the frame is still on the car? Is there a trick to doing it? Please advise.

You will get better and faster answers if you are more specific about your car: 67 Coupe or Conv, esp a question about doors.

Default Vent Window

I recently rebuilt the interior door panels on my 65 coupe. My car required new window tracks, vent window regulator rebuild, and the hinge that attaches to the vent window. I found a great deal of help within this forum. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by the pivot, but think you are referring to the window hinge that is spot welded to the vent window frame. In my case, I removed the window, had the glass removed, had the new hinge welded to the frame, had the frame rechromed, and finally re-installed the glass. It sounds difficult, but in retrospect was not that difficult. I will try to attach a photo for you. The removal of the window can be accomplished with a little patience. If this were my car, I would not have any welding done to the window while attached to the car or with the glass still installed. Hope Im reading your question correctly.

Well, I can't load my pictures for some reason... sorry.

Good luck, Don

Paragon spot welded that little bracket on my window frame for me years ago. Great job and very reasonable.

Was there a trick to getting the window back in the car. It just does not look like a lot of room for the window to be low enough for the upper pivot to be put in the hole on door frame.

Found it best to remove the regulator when installing the vent window to get the pin into the vent frame.

The factory repair manual states you can push the frame down enough without removing the regulator. Believe that would be harder and also can cause damage.

My '67 Convertible had the passenger vent window pivot was welded rather sloppy. I also wanted to re-chrome frame around the vent window. I ended up buying a good used frame from Paragon. After I assembled the frame and window track, I had to remove the vent regulator. We just dropped it in twisting here and there and it slid right in. Replace the exterior chrome window edge if need be before assembling door. I had a local auto glass shop align the vent window frame and install door window and align.
