Odometer Fix
I've had my 63 for almost exactly a year. When I bought it, the dealer certified to approx. 56,700 miles. About two months later , the odometer stopped working. At the same time, the speedometer stopped giving accurate MPH. At 2500 rpm, I think I'm doing about 70 MPH. The speedometer reads 45. I not too concerned about the speedometer, but even though I don't think I'll ever sell the car, I'd like the mileage to be accurate. Are both problems tied together? Is it an easy fix?
Unrelated issue. Beautiful day in Northeastern Pa. Just came back from a 2 1/2 hour ride. The longer it ran, the better it sounded. Country roads, top down, tunes blasting. Great day!!!

You will have to have the cross gear replaced. If you cant get the steel kind, plastic is available. but with the plastic, you will need to take the trip odometer part loose or it will wear the plastic gear very quickly. This may actually be what has happened to yours, because when you change the gear to plastic, the speedo tends to read low. When all is done it will have to be calibrated. The thing to do is remove the unit and take it to your local speedometer shop. Or, maybe send it out to the Corvette gauge repair people, if you are not in a hurry.
