'66 Code 450 Blue/White Interior AGAIN ????
So far I have had no luck matching the blue color of my dash pads. I am trying to paint the radio side panels to match the blue of my dash pads. I believe the dash pad color is correct as they are GM replacements that were put in around 1980. They match the color of the dash pads of many members of this forum who have been nice enough to send me pictures of their cars that have the code 450 Blue/White interiors. I have bought paint from LIC, Corvette America, Corvette Central, and now from Vinyl Industries Inc. Every vendor has said their paint is the correct color. None match the dash pads or the original color of the radio panels. 
Each paint seems very bright. The blue is supposed to be a Med Blue. Two local paint shops are trying to help put so far nothing is close.

Any decent paint shop should be able to match paint to your dash pads or door panels. Tell them you are looking for a color match formula, not a book formula. They will need one of your dash pads or door panels to do this. I would try PPG because they still stock some lacquer paint and that would work best for your side panels since it needs to be left unbuffed and slightly dull. If you have to use urethane see if they can flatten it a little to look like unbuffed lacquer. Another option is to use vinyl dye (elastomeric paint) which is usually slightly flattened in gloss. Of course you will need to have spray equipment but either a detail gun and air compressor or one of the little compressed air tube sprayers that can be purchased, will handle that.
