I have an enclosed trailer that I am currently using D-rings and ratchet straps to secure Corvettes. I would like a better system. The system must be capable of working with more than one car. What is the best system and what vendor is the best for purchasing this system?
Not trying to be argumentative, but what is the problem you perceive with ratchet straps ? Are you concerned that axle straps put excessive loads on bushings etc ? Just don't like lying on the floor hooking stuff up ?
All the 'tire basket' tie downs I've seen require specific placement of D-rings, which sorta negates their use for different cars.
Done probably 200K+ miles towing race cars around in the past two decades, and still prefer ratchet straps.

The system that I am using has two ratchet straps and two adjustable straps. It seems like there is always one loose adjustable strap that I can't get adjusted correctly. The 61 seems easier to strap down than the 63 because of the solid rear axle. I get nervous putting pressure on the rear shock mounts when ratching down the rear of the 63. I posted the question to get responses like yours and what is the method of choice.
If so, you'll always have a loose one...just the nature of the beast. I use 4 ratchets, and axle straps as appropriate (most of the race fleet here has 'eyes' or rings that the ratchet snap hooks can catch).
I don't like tying to shock mounts, as shock mounts are designed to retain 'up and down' movement, but aren't really made for tying vehicles down. Don't tow the Corvette that much, but when I do I put a long axle strap around the rear of the trailing arm, in front of the spring fixture (mid-year), than grab that with a snap hook on the ratchet.
