My heads have no provision for an exhaust cross over. As was demonstrated with some video on another post, without it, the exhaust sounds poor at idle. I am considering an H pipe and the only place I can see it fit is behind the cross member. My system has all stock type 2.5” pipes and Magnaflow mufflers. Has anyone had experience with this and what were the results.
Thanks.
I added an H-Pipe to my 62. Understand that it is a different frame than a C2, but the effect should be the same. The sound is much better with the H-Pipe (not as harsh, and a tad quieter), and low end torque is increased a bit as well. Depends on the sound you have now, and what you are looking for, but generally I would expect the same type of results.
I put mine just aft of the bell housing, under the trans. Since I have headers, with bolt on reducers at the collectors, it was pretty easy to add them to these reducers. I can then unbolt the reducers and H-Pipe assembly for trans removal.
Best to take it to a shop that will work with you.
Thanks for the info. As much as I want to do all the work myself, I can imagine a clamped up leaky mess if I do it. The pipes are not round and are not really parallel. Ground clearence would be an issue if I went below the trans. I guess I will have to go to a shop and hope Bubba has the day off. That X pipe work is outstanding.
