Several months ago, I installed an aftermarket sound system in my 63. It sounds fantastic. During this process, I had a chance to look at alot of the original wiring. It scares me. I'm afraid of a fire. I'm trying to convince myself that I can re-wire it mysef. It appears that Lectric Limited offers the best product. It also sounds like Don Olson's diagram is a must. My question is, is it that hard to do. I'm not too mechanically inclined, but I've already done some stuff to the car that I didn't think I was capable of. Do you need any special tools? I don't think I can get to Carlisle this year so is there any other way to get Olson's diagrams? I've already printed out some tech articles from this forum on removing the gauge cluster etc. Even though the car is a 63, the gauge cluster appears to be from a 65 and the engine is a 69 350. What harness do I buy? I have a 63 shop manual. Are there any other books or instructions that I would need? Lastly, is there anything else that I should anticipate replacing during the process. I'm assuming that while it's apart I should do the speedo/tach cables.

To get the wiring diagram, you can e-mail Don and he'll tell you how much, etc.

His e-mail adddy is: vetsvette2002@yahoo.com

Also if you don't already have the Assembly Instruction Manual, it might be a good thing to buy it soon, too.

No special tools needed. Just careful marking of where things plug into. Go ahead and look at the wiring diagrams in your shop manual. You will see the wire color listed (abbreviated) and just follow its path on the diagram and then in the car. It is REALLY simple. Just take a piece of masking tape when you unplug a connection and mark it with where it goes. Then you have it to refer back to with the new harness, and diagram. Plus you got us !

I would get the 1963 harness.

You may want to consider 1963 gauges. They should fit in your cluster, although its a later model. Jason Oliver or others can confirm this.

You can do it !
