Default C2 seats

I'm in the process of building a Newman framed SW with LS2 and a T56 which reduces the trans tunnel space slightly.I had planned on using C5 seats but there doesn't look to be enough room for them. Anyone have any suggestions as to something that might fit?
Thanks for any ideas.

It is a Flaming River tilt column, as for the seat tracks, I welded a larger foot on the front of the rails and bolted them in the original holes. I will be honest, it took me about a month to get them to fit just like I wanted them to, but they sure are nice on long trips and at the auto cross track and in the mountains.

Those look great! Thanks. Did you use the C2 or C4 tracks? I'd have guessed the C4 seats were wider than the C5's-of course I never had a side to side comparision. Thanks again.

I used the C4 manual tracks. I tried to make the power tracks work but it made the seat set to high and I did not want to cut the floor. On the 94 - 96 seats and tracks I had, the bottom of the seat had 2 slightly different mounting locations, so with those combinations and welding a wider mounting pad on the front of the tracks, I was able to use the stock bolt holes in the floor.

Hi SSS,

WOW!! Beautiful '63 SWC with a stunning interior set-up with those C4 Seats and Steering . I'd like to replicate same with a pair of C4 seats .

I'm needing more information and clarification as to how you actually accomplished the fitment of your seats.

I spoke with Jason today ... nice informed guy ... from "Vette 2 Vette" (they salvage used 1984 to 2002 parts) about purchasing a pair of 1996 Seats. He described there were two choices ... the Standard Seats plus the Sport Seats with Lumbar electric air-pump adjustments and individual seat controls.

Independent of the two different seat options available, both were electrically operated in six-separate directions. Unless I misunderstood him , he said none of those original seats came with manual track adjustments.

Hmmmm ... what am I not understanding here ?

The Sports Seat pair with seat controls are selling for $1,250.00 . Adding new leather seat covers on foam from Al Knoch are selling for $975.00 for standard colors . Custom color to match my '63 red interior color would be extra bucks.

Please advise as to how you approached and achieved the installation of your seats.

Best Regards,

PeteZ

Anyone ever seen or gotten to fit the 79-82 C3 seat into a C2? I swear I saw those once and it looked 'right.' and those are my favorite seat, for some reason they fit me better than any of the later ones and have alot better support than the older ones. If they weren't so expensive I might try to experiment myself but I would hate to buy them and not be able to make it work, and I don't really have all the skills or tools to do serious modifications to the seat frame and I have a rule about mods to the body...

Hey Pete, First I bought the standard seats on ebay for around 400, in good shape but needing covers. I choose the standard seat because the covering is not attached to the foam, making recovering them much easier. I also like the way the standard seat looked more period and the cross strips in the backs matched the door panels.

The seats in C4s came with power and standard tracks, you can find either kind on ebay or just buy them with the seat. I talked one of the seat cover manufactures to do me a set of covers using the correct material that matched the 63 red interior. To the best of my knowledge, the 63 did not have a true red leather interior, so I used the vinyl so it would match. I had tried in the past to match the red in leather and it was never just right.

I talked about the install process in a earlier post in this thread. We have made a few cross country trips with the seats and they are very comfortable.

Thanks for the compliments on the interior. SSS
