Default C2 Glovebox question

I just completed a "frameoff" Glovebox restoration. Please note that it is the glovebox only that I performed the frame-off on. It is all back together and fine BUT.....When I look at the glovebox straight dead on...there is a J shaped hook that is visible beneath the glovebox on the left hand side (the drivers side). If I remember correctly that piece runs along the bottom of the box, has screw holes in it and the last screw hole on the right has an eye hook. Did I install this wrong...please advise.

Hi Daren,

On my 67, there are 3 large headed screws that hold the glove box door hinge to the dash, and at the left end, there is a smaller screw that holds that J-hook to the hinge. That j-hook is the end of the glove box door spring. Open the door to put the spring in a neutral state, and then a smaller headed screw goes through that j-hook vertically into the door hinge. That spring tension is always trying to open the door, and eliminates any slop when the door is latched.
