Default Tail light SAGA

As some might remember I've posted a thread on my tail lights not working. My brake lights and turn signals all work fine but not my tail lights.
Well I've tried all the easy things you guys have suggested like check the fuse, traced wires etc.
The other day I pulled the head light switch and jumped out the (+) on the battery directly to the brown wire on the switch.
Doing this, my tailights went on which tells me that the wire is not brocken between the switch and lights.
BUT, what also happened is that as I put the hot lead on the switch not only did the tailights light but I pull in a relay or coil on the wiper motor. Everytime I touch the brown wire at the switch I could hear a click...click on the wiper motor which I'm sure is not supposed to happen. I assume there is a crossed wire somewhere.
Any suggestions.
By the way the wiper washer pump never worked before either so maybe whatever the fix is will fix both.
Is it just me or is the wiring on these cars a pain in the a$$.
I think I'd rather do anything except for wirng on the cars.

Just venting, Mark

that is odd. Have you replaced the headlight switch? They go bad and weird things happen. Also, check your washer motor to be sure it is grounded. I'm betting on a bad headlight switch.

I'd have to agree with you. I'll order a switch and cross my fingers.
Who knows maybe I'll get my windshield washer pump to work also.

Thanks, Mark
