Default Console molding

I bought the molding for the upper console on my 58. I don't see how this thing can fit. Can anyone tell me how the upper console should be finished off at the dash? TIA

Yes I have a real good idea... I went out to my garage and snapped a couple of pictures for you. I still don't know how to post pictures on this forum.. But I'm putting two up on my website for you to view. When I have it up (five minutes), I'll post the link.

58-62 DASH UPPER MLDG INSTALLED. The 58-62 Dash Upper Moulding installation is not hard to do at all. The moulding is a flimsy and thin and when you install it, no matter how hard you try it will have waves in it. If you pull back on the dash pad a tiny bit, you will see the existing holes in the fiberglass dash area. Once you Locate the existing holes you can use an aw to punch holes in the lower part of the dash pad. If you start at one side with the first screw and run it down but do not tighten it. Then move to the next hole and so on until you reach the end. Once you have all the screws in the moulding you can then start to tighten each one of them. As hard as you try to keep the moulding flat it will not stay that way.

I hope this works.. If not, here is the link: http://willcoxcorvette.com/product_i...ducts_id=24168

Thanks for going to all the trouble in taking pictures. Your molding looks like it fits nicely up to the console. The molding I bought from Paragon doesn't fit this close because the ends are too long and interfere with the dash. I would have to bend the ends down in order to fit. Is this the case with yours?

Yes, the moulding won’t sit horizontally flat! The sides will bend inward toward the dash when installed.

It’s hard to get a good picture that shows this, but the moulding will tweak when installed.

It won’t fit perfect but then once installed and I think mine in the picture looks better than it really fits.

I agree that the molding is going to twist at the ends when installed. Thanks for the help. I'll give it a try.

i put my upper console molding in the box of useless parts that were a nice idea but were too hard to try to install right and I would be upset if it wasn't perfect and nobody would miss anyway.
