Default rear diff. axle code location

Where is the two letter code stamped at for 66 in order to determine axle ratio and motor placement with unit. Is it on top where serial # is? If so then you can not read it unless you drop rear end or do a body-off resto. Still trying to determine if this car was original BB car. U-joints at half shaft yokes do have cap arragements and rear sway bar too. James

At the very bottom by the rear cover. After code will be "date code". Make sure they line up when car was built.

The ratio code and assembly date are stamped on the bottom of the diff housing, between the spring retainer plate and the camber strut rod bracket; will require some cleaning to see them.

thanks Knight37128 & JohnZ for the help. After using a can of brake cleaner to cut thru the crud this is what I found. code #AZ 1 22 66. (3.55:1 Positraction 4-speed 427) The approx. build date for car is Feb. 16, 1966. Does this date fit the time frame to be original? Everything looks to be pointing towards BB car with the exemption of not original small block hood and not original small block radiator a rad. support. Evidence of repair to original front end at right front headlight bucket area. Looks like they put small block parts to repair at time of accident. Straight frame with no evidence of repairs. what do you think? I,m totally confused now..
