veeerrrryyyyy carefully, no pun intended.....

the windshield frame has to be removed from the car and then disassembled. my biggest problem has always been getting the lower stainless molding centered when reassembling it.

it is really a simple job, but unfortunately hard to describe in sufficient step-by-step detail. basically:

1. remove entire windshield frame assembly from the car by removing all the nuts from the end irons and the lower u-channel. these are are accessible by practically standing on your head and laying under the dash. best to remove steering wheel and seats to get more room.

2. lay the frame assy on a blanket on the floor or a big workbench

3. remove the sun visors. remove end posts from each end of the windshield frame removing the screws on the bottom and the top ends.

4. slide the end posts away from each end of the windshield

5. lift the top and bottom channels from the winshiled gasket

to reassemble:

1. fit the new windshield gasket to the new windshield just like the old one was to the old windshield. making sure you have the glass centered in the gasket.

2. mark the lower stainless molding center, the lower u-channel and the lower center of the glass so that you can get get the molding ends even on both sides.

3. set the top and bottom channels onto the gasket as the original one was.

4. check to see the the top and bottom channels and moldings are evenly at each end. you may have to take the bottom molding off and on several times to get it right.

5. slide the end posts back into the top and bottom channels and put the screws back in and tighten. (hopefully the bottom ears on the end post weren't broken off.... if so you can get those repaired)

6. replace the bottom windshield-to-body seal and the 2 (2 gaskets on each end side) under the windshield post.

7. set the windshield frame back on the car. it's best as a 3 person job; 2 to hold each end and one to get all the t-bolts started in their holes.

8. climb back under the dash and reinstall and tighten all the nuts.

GOOD LUCK...

Bill

ps: i've done the job all by myself, just not easy or fun that way......

You forgot step #9--consume a cold adult beverage when the job is completed.
