Wow, the Muskrat is 4000 lbs..... I thought the 1970's Mustangs were bloated, but even they did not weigh that much..... I remember at the time, reading an article on the Boss 429, and they said the car was so front heavy that the rear could never "hook up", but if it ever did.......
I can remember when the 84 Thunderchicken was first introduced with its new styling theme and because it was overweight the Thunderbird Manager was canned..... I guess this time there gonna axe 10K......
More hard times ahead for GM and Ford......

Mustang
Was getting my hair cut - noticed a Road and Track magazine , read the whole article comparing the 400 H.P. Corvette[ with all the options , which the mag. didnt want in the car] the Mustang had 500
H.P. , the Corvette beat it just about every test , quarter mile , cornering ,etc. But to be fair , this wasn't comparing apples to apples
the Corvette has far better weight distribution and traction, and probably a better lower center of gravity. The only thing going for the mustang was the horsepower. When the new Camaro comes out and when they test it with the Mustang that will be comparing apples to apples. Getting back to the Corvette , I cant understand why any body would not want one, for the price , it is the best bargain.

The best 1/4 mile time I have seen so far was 12.2 in Muscle Mustang & Fast Fords (Bone Stock).
They are heavy but with just a tune and a cold air kit (open air filter) they put down 505 rear wheel horsepower on the dyno (430-440 rwhp stock). Not bad for a $42K car with $500 worth of parts. Put on a smaller blower pulley or aftermarket twin screw supercharger (Kenne Bell or Whipple), Long Tube Headers, etc and you'll be looking at approx 600-700 rear wheel horsepower in a car that can be your daily driver with A/C and run the quarter mile in the 10's.
All the reports of the new Camaro and Challenger suggest they will both be in the 3,900 - 4,100 lb weight range too.
