I've post a few threads concerning a loud clicking noise when the clutch pedal is pressed all the way to the floor. I'm in the process of aligning my bellhousing. I took a look at my new clutch compared to my old clutch and found that the new one is 1/4 inch shorter.
I hope the pictures show.
My clutch adjustment, with the new clutch, was less than a 1/2 inch from the end of the adjustment rod which looked wrong to me. What are you thoughts??
When you measured it was it bolted to the flywheel? A new disc will move the fingers in. If it's installed and if it doesn't stick to the floor at high rpm go with it. The adjustment 1/2 inch from the end doesn't matter because the adjustment with wear is moving up the rod.
Loud clicking noise is usually failure to properly align the clutch housing sheet metal shield on the front of the cover. Putting pressure on the end of the crank can push it a couple of thousanths to rub the flywheel bolts on the sheet metal. Look for scars on the sheet metal.
PS A centerforce pressure plate will also make the noise. Ask me how I know.

And you can ask me as well.
The centerforce was almost 1/2 inch shorter then the LUK. The clutch fork was hitting the little ring of fly-weights that are on the centerforce diaphram fingers. Pushed the clutch down, and is sounded like someone was sticking a screwdriver in a fan.
If it is the Centerforce clutch's cenrtifugal weights hitting on the fork, you can remove those weights and your clutch will still be balanced and work fine. I did this on mine, runs smooth as glass, it will grab rubber in both 2nd and 3rd.
Craig,
If you cant see any marks on the clutch plate where it might have been hitting the fork, and the inspection plate wasn't rubbibg on anything what about the pilot bushing? Did you change it and get a bad one? Also what about the throw out bearing, was it new, can you spin in by hand an feel any rough spots? Don't know what else to try.

Your adjustment 1/2" from the end of the rod is entirely normal. Some are all the way to the end.
You're also comparing a bent finger to a straight finger clutch.
