Default OT-? Tool Boxes - Labels

I'm gathering more and more tools ( I LOVE harbor Freight!)

I'm wondering if any one has labeled their toolbox drawers, cabinets etc with any system that looks good they would reccomend. I know sears has a magnetic set, but it's fairly 'generic'.

We'd all like have that beautiful tool box shiny without messy labels ...but I'm getting too much junk!

Thought about making them on the computer, but would like something a little classier.

Suggestions ? Pics? Sources?

My Dad used something like this to label his tool boxes. I don't know how easy they are to get off if you need to change things.

I took magnetic business cards, painted them white, cut them in thin strips, and wrote on them with a marker.

Perhaps I can blame it on the '60's?

I've recently collected and organized many of my tools only to determine I have way too many tools necessary to easily accomplish actual work on my little "Vette.

What does one do with excess tools

Anyway, when 'out-fitting' my tool cabinets with a full set of hand tools, I had, early-on, planned to label each drawer as to it's content of tool type . As I continued placing specific tools in specific drawer's, I soon remembered the drawer location for same tools . For me, this constitutes a major accomplishment given my 'fleeting' memory recall these days.

As long as I continue to regularily access tools from the drawers they're in, I'll be okay. Later, after not having used the tools for awhile, I'll ask myself where did these tool cabinets come from

So, memory as to location of applicable tool drawer and said tool works best for me. If you do not use your tools that often, labeling tool drawers may be the next best indicator of locating the tool you're looking for.

Pete

See if there's a vocational school nearby that might be in need of shop tools?

IMO labeling drawers is only usefull for others to find where your tools go.Which can be handy if other people use your tools. But I agree with the others that memory works for me.A peg board is nice for special tools and larger tools.

I figured that's what everyone would say, I am rapidly collecting more tools, heat guns, dremel tools, gazillion brushes and scrapers, you name it.

From what I can see most old timers and people who use them a lot do use memory.

I think I need more tool BOXES...I'm getting to many types in one drawer.

Since I'm the only one who uses my tools, I don't need to label the drawers, but each drawer is used for one specific type of tool - SAE sockets, SAE wrenches, metric sockets, metric wrenches, impact sockets, measuring tools, tune-up instruments, etc., and I use molded plastic organizers for sockets and wrenches so I know exactly where each tool belongs and can see at a glance at the end of the day what's still out in the work area.
