Default C1 Pricing

Is there a good price guide for C1's? I am beginning to search for a 1959 C1, and want to make sure I do not over pay. It stands to reason, if you really like a car, you will be willing to pay more, but I would at least like to know the ball park.

Thanks!!

Send me your address and i will send you last month's issue of "Old Cars Price Guide". Will give you ball park figures. If I was going to buy another C1, I would get educated by watching Ebay, usedcorvettesforsale.com, cars.com. , etc. Join NCRS and look at the cars for sale in that magazine. Visit some local dealers in your area, not to buy, but to see what kind of prices they are asking for good cars. Take a person that knows corvettes. Prices vary so much with these cars so the more you know the less chance of overspending. Good Luck in your search,
thanks,
jim

"Pricing Guides" are too generic to depend on, as wide swings in real value occur based on MANY different variables between two otherwise similar cars; they just provide a starting point to add to or subtract from depending on minor or major differences.

$25k and under - YIKES, needs a lot of help, won't even start
$26k to $35k - Driver, 10 footer, probably needs paint and chrome, forget matching anything
$36k to $50k - Nice paint, nice interior and chrome, at low end not much matches number wise, if you want matching numbers then it needs chrome, paint and interior
$51k to $75k - At high end everything nice and matching
$76k and higher - Top Flight and well documented car

There is always give and take in the numbers and of course there is the "how bad do I really want this car" as compared to the sellers "how badly do I really want to sell this car?"

Unless you really want the satisfaction of doing it yourself, then I would suggest buying as much car with as much done as possible, in the long run you will save a ton of money.....

Good luck!!!

The most current is the CPI, which is published monthly.

I bought an extreme basket case car (excuse me parts) for about 4500.00 in 2000. Well, $25,000.00 and 6 years later I am still buying parts and doing the bodywork. I figure another 25,000 and it will be complete. It is an expensive hobby, though, well worth it!

Illinicane....

They key is patience. It took me 3 years to find my 58. Well worth it though. I found her here in California at the price range I wanted. Dont jump at the first one. Do your homework. It will pay off. By the way I paid $33,000 for my 58 3 years ago. She drove well and was a non hit body. No matching numbers though. good luck

Lots of great advice by everyone so far. I truly love this forum. The members are great, even if they don't like Miami and the Canes. It does not bother me one bit.

I love the C1, and I was born in 1959. That's my goal.

Keep the advice coming please!!

100%. I bought my 60 numbers matching 2-top car last November for $35k. Mechanically, she is sound with a recently rebuilt motor and lots of new stuff underneath. She needed new carpet and some freshening up in the interior as well as some paint work on the rear of the car. She was missing the Wonderbar radio and the soft top and frame. Unfortunately, these items are some of the most expensive so verify them as well as interior pieces. I was lucky and wasn't even looking but the deal was too good to pass up. The banks always have money and if you are patient there are still deals to be had, especially this time of year! Good luck in your search!

Try classiccars.com and compare to NADA. This is a good start, Then check out e bay Item number: 170042285505. My reserve is 38,000, this is for forum members only.

In a rising market too much patience can cost you. If you are serious, you need to do your homework and be APPROPRIATELY patient....

I bought my '61 basket case in '79 for $900 -and it took about $12,000 more (1979-1985) to make it sweet:

You have a beautiful car! Thanks for pointing me to it! I really have my heart set on a 59 triple black with silver coves. If not, your price and the condition of the car is really strong.

Thanks for the advice on classiccars and NADA!!

Good luck with your sale!
