I've just purchased an original 58 glass bowl type fuel filter for my 2x4 WCFBs. Is the old ceramic(?) filter element reuseable? I looked in the ST-12 and owners manual but there is no mention of it. TIA for replies.
That element is AC Delco part number GF-124. You can still get new paper ones. I believe they're around $5. The old ceramic ones are on EBay all the time for around $30. Not sure how you tell when the ceramic one is used up.

I vote for almost never.
I remember seeing the AC sediment bowl with ceramic filter on quite a few early '50s cars. I had a '53 Ford PU with a very rusty gas tank back in the '70s. I put an AC filter/sediment bowl near the tank and an electric pump feeding the engine on a 'suck thru' arrangement. I had to clean the gunk out of the glass bowl frequently and once in a while back flush the filter 'stone'.
Back in the 80s, I had a box (10) of "rock" filters for the bowl. I took them to the Dallas Super Chevy in in the late 80s. I thought maybe I could get a couple of bucks apiece for them. No one wanted them, they wanted the better paper type filters. So, I gave away the whole box of 10. I had a couple of seperate ones, and put one in the bowl of my 2x4s that has been on the shelf for at least 25yrs now. I still have one left------------------somewhere. I thought there would be some value in them, I guess not.
