Default 1964 Trim code date codes

What month does the A represent in the trim code date of A16 for a 1964 corvette? Does A = January? Or A = August? Or A = September. My NCRS JG doesn't have the date codes listed. Thanks, Patrick

the TIM&JG does list them, but that thing is in dire need of an index.

anyway, for the 1964 model year, a body build date code of A16 is either Sept 16 (if a St Louis car) or Jan 16 (if an AOS car). Check the body number for an indication of plant.

My car is an "S" for St. Louis built car so that would make it an Sept 16 body assembly line build date. Which is the same date that is extrapilated as the final build date of my car (vin # 100818 = 9/16/63). Does that seem odd? Too close? Or reasonable ?
My engine block cast date is 9/3/63, the engine pad build date is 9/11/63 if that helps. thanks

Nothing unusual about that - the car got its trim tag (with the body build date code) after it left the Paint Shop, in the first station on the Trim Line, and it took about a shift to get from that point to the end of the line, where it was recorded as "produced".

but if an AOS car, that might be unusual (TTag date to Birthday spread)

Exactly - A.O. Smith bodies got their trim tag at A.O. Smith, before they were shipped to St. Louis, which usually took 4 to 10 days or so.

The 1963 and 1964 TM&JG has been the subject of many debates on the NCRS Technical Discussion Board.

It even got its own web page for the errors until obviously, NCRS shut them down.

I've heard there are over 100 items that are not as correct as they should be and this is the Fourth Edition.
