Default C1 Windshield Assy Install

I have my windshield assembly all together with rechromed posts and polished trim and ready to install. Looking at the bottom of the lower frame gasket and how it aligns with the posts it appears that it is already above the immaginary plane established by the bottom of the posts. Therefore I am hesitent to use the post seal as that will compound the problem. Anyone seen this problem before? Also, when installing the bottom frame seal is it best to apply sealant between the gasket and steel frame and then strip cauld between the seal and the body? Is there a better way?

Never seen that problem before. You may want to recheck and make sure the bottom channel is pulled up tight against the tabs on the posts. When I did mine I just used one rubber shim under each post.

Good Luck. Bill

Default Tabs are tight to channel

I checked again and all is firmly attached. Making a measurement by using a straight edge placed against the bottom of the post (without gasket) and extending it over the U-shaped bottom seal I measure about .030" gap on the left side and about 010" gap on the right side. Since the post seals are about .060" each this gap would grow to .090" and .070" - that makes for a substantial gap. The new seals are from Corvette Central. Have you had any problems with leakage after your install? I'm tempeded to not use the post seals and rely on strip caulk to provide a seal. Comments are surly welcome.
