Default ProTeam Experience

After months of looking I found one I am very happy with.I Never thought I could afford to buy a car from ProTeam and rarely visited their site. However one Friday afternoon I spotted a listing for a one owner car 76,000 original miles and tons of documentation,POP and bill of sale to name a few. I called and spoke to Chris Wilson. Chris knew what he was talking about and answered all my questions without the bs I got from a few other dealers. He e-mailed me additional photos of block pad, interior and frame that I requested. There was no high pressure sales pitch just honest answers. I placed a deposit down and flew out three days later and bought the car. It was even better that I had expected. It was delivered yesterday by Don & Beth Wallace of Road Scholar who also did an excellent job. It is a totally original car with all the original body panels and its great to own a midyear again.

Beautiful car & congrats on owning another midyear!

Glad to hear it was a good, smooth transaction. Road Scholar is a great outfit as well, we've used them in the past to ship some cars and they do an outstanding job.

The car came from one owner who lived in Indiana. The only options are C&C group 327-300 4 speed AM-FM. Hardtop/softtop and 336 positraction. The highest price option was the hardtop $236 followed closely by the AM/FM at $203. It must have been new technology back then. The last time I owned a midyear was in 1974 so its been a long time coming.

I have dealt with Chris, also, and felt he was a stand up guy. I was there about a year and a half ago to check a few cars for a guy. I actually made two trips about a month apart, and checked three cars thoroughly, although I did a quick check on several while there. (Hey, why not, they have a lot of them!)

The guy ended up not buying any, however, Chris spent time, never rushed me, showed me anything I wanted, including where they were rebuilding a couple that they bought. We took them to the oil change shop on the corner, where those guys were great, and we took each for a quick run down the street to see that everything worked as advertised.

Many of our buddies on this forum won't let you take their car for a ride to check it, so this puts Pro Team above a few on here.

There used to be a lot of hard feelings for Terry Michaelis and anything he was connected with years ago, and some of that surfaces in these "The Last 67" conversations, but I think that Pro Team is basically a straight forward place. Yes, you need to know what you are looking at, and you need to ask the right questions, because in essence they are a used car dealer, not your best friend, but I don't think they are conspiring in the back room on how to rip you off before you leave.

Glad to hear you had a good experience. The car looks really good.

Good-news story - congratulations !!
A real good friend of mine and forum member (Aussiesnagz - Jarron) will be taking delivery of his white/red '63 327/340 vert in the next few days - the ship arrived yesterday after a 3-month voyage from USA thru Europe and finally to Fremantle, Australia - and he actually bought the car in Vegas back in July, so also a long time coming, ha, ha.
Seeing your posting brought a real big smile to my face - and I'm sure Jarron will be posting photos soon.........Best Regards, Gary (Perth, Australia)

Thanks for your replies. Here are some more pics.

As for the other dealers lets just say don't believe them. One guy was giving me all the right answers such as paint code correct all original body panels described the car down to small details turned out he never even seen the car. Had some check it and it was a total bubbamobile. It was painted viper orange. All this while being told two other guys were ready to pull the trigger.

RJD42:
Congratulations! What a wonderful feeling it must have been to see that baby come down off that delivery lift.

Great color combination.

I would not hesitate to buy a car from Pro Team. I know very little about '72s but if I was in the market I'd drag my NCRS '70 owning buddy with me to help out. Knowledge is power.

Best Regards,

Black60

Congratulations on a beautiful car ! I have purchased several cars from Proteam over the years and recently sold back a 57 I had purchased from them 3 yrs ago. I have always worked with Brian Topp . I have always been dealt with in a fair manner. Both Brian and Chris are ex Marines , fine young men!
