I have 17" TT2 on a 65. I have new BF Goodrich g forces on. The ride is not as good as I expected and i can see the front shaking slightly. I was told that the wheels are lug centric and that if I used centering rings that i could prob correct the ride. Has anyone bought these? Is the hub size the same as 68-82 vettes? What size do i need? Did they help your ride quality?
I put hub centric rings on my Billet Specialities 17 inch wheels and it definitley helped. Most factory wheels are designed to center on the hub. I have checked many GM lug bolts for true runout and about 25% of them are out of round.
I also run bfg 245/45/17 and they are a lot rougher than my 205/70/15 Kellys on the stock knock offs. It is very difficult to tune the suspension on or old cars to handle 17s and still ride smooth like a newer type sports car.
I have 'Coys' 18" on my car with BFG kdw's. I have noticed no issues, my car rides well at high speed but I would look at hub centric rings.
SSS, where did you get your rings? Are they specific to the wheel?
I measured the hub and wheel and my tire guy ordered them for me. I think any good tire shop would know who to order them from. When I bought my Billet wheels. I was told they were hub centric, but the rings take care of the issue.
