Default distributor wiring

I have a 327 300hp with a MSD ingnition (6AL) with a MSD dist. I get a engine miss at 1800-2000RPMs. I have replaced plugs, wires. cap, rotor and still have the miss. I called MSD, they said put a seperate ground to to red box and the battery, and incrfease the plug gap to 55 thous. and made sure the two pick up wires from the dist. are not running next to each other.. still the problem....
I got the car two years ago and had the problem since day one. Even put on a new edelbrock 1406 carb ,, no help.
I have the old point dist. and coil so thought I would put it bake in and try again
I do not know where the wires go or from with the old dist. sitting on the bench with one black wire coming out the bottom.
What wires go the coil??? I know if I turn the engine over with the old dist in and want to go back to the MSD.I will have to be sure the rotor points at plug 1 with the cap removed and the timing marks at O degrees. Thank Chuck weather in Wis is 50 degrees and no salt on the doars after 10" two weeks ago.....

The stock setup has two pink wires connected to the coil (+) terminal, and the black wire from the distributor is connected to the coil (-) terminal.

A 12-ga. pink wire comes through the grommet in the firewall from the ignition switch and connects to the bottom terminal on the ballast resistor, and another 12-ga. pink wire from the engine harness connects to the top terminal on the resistor (the other end of that wire is at the + coil terminal).

The other pink wire (18 ga.) at the coil (+) terminal is also in the engine harness, and comes from the small "R" terminal on the starter solenoid; it feeds a full 12 volts to the coil when cranking. If the harness is original, both pink wires are crimped to one spade connector at the coil connection.

If the car has a radio, there's also a capacitor attached to the coil bracket - its black lead also connects to the coil (+) terminal.

Do you have a MSD system???? not to sure if it is a good idea or not??
