Default pushrod clearence issues

well I went to adjust the valves on the new 327 engine i built and #3 and 6 intake pushrods need more clerance thru the 292 head. i checked it and did it before it got to this stage. i don't see what changed. anyhow. anyone know some trick , you don't have to take it all apart again , way to open up the pushrod passages a little bit. I think i'm not going to bother with it till next week. enough already.

Is the push rod seated in the center of the lifter? Double check as this would be an easy fix.

Are your rocker arms the new kind that self center on the valve?

I'm using 1.6 probe shaft rockers.

Theres only one way to do it right You have to take the head off and make clearance with a die grinder or take it to a machine shop if you need more than .060". You run the risk of breaking through so be careful. Good luck Chris

With the shaft rockers you will need to open them up a bit.

You could get a big magnet. Put the magnet below where you are grinding to catch the metal.

The possibility of small metal in the oil pan is a scary thought.

Duct tape and shop rags.

if the block isn't all oily, it will stick fine and catch everything.

This is the engine you ran for 20 minutes?

I assume you are referring to the brown stuff on the pistons, i figure those are 3 and 6, correct?

Well, heck, dude,

making some logical assumptions, i don't see any need to tear the whole motor apart.

Pushrod 3 and 6 were rubbing, cylinder 3 and 6 have unburned crap on the pistons.

Free up pushrods 3 and 6 and problem will most likely be solved.

Valves are hanging open, just clearance the heads. BTW I would open them( all )while you have it apart.

I ordered the special tool from summit. Cleaned out the valley real good, checked the cylinder walls etc.everything seems cool. Guess I'll just wait for the tool drill ALL the intake pushrod holes and reassemble with newe intake and head gaskets. . All good fun.
Merry Christmas.
