brake light problem
I am having a brake light problem. My right brake does not work some of the time, while I am driving. Can not get it to fail when I am home. Turn signal always works as well as driving lights. Any suggestions where to look. Thanks

Common problem with the early cars. The turnsignal switch doesnt return to center. That cancels the brake light on one side to operate the turn signal. If it doesnt center, the brake litght will not work.

Yes, the turn signal switch not centering. You need to make sure is it centered after you use it. You can take the steering wheel off and look at the centering cam and switch to see if it is gummed up or catching on something. There is a flat spring in there that might be missing, it helps return it to center.

I found a similar problem on my 63 and believe it came from under the brake pedal. There is a switch that enganges as you press the brake down. I also had a wire just hanging that looked like it needed to shoved in..had some type of resister on it...needless I had problems with the right and left brake light going back and forth never knowing which one would be working and when. All tail lights and blinkers work, just that darn brake light. Maybe they'll take it in on trade at Saturn. hahahahahahahahaha. Kidding !
