58 Trunk Straps/Spears
Has anyone used the aftermarket aluminum trunk straps/spears on their '58?
The reason I ask, my car is far from original and never will be, and a few people have approached me about selling them my original trunk spears for their restoration projects. I like the looks of the trunk straps, but figured if I can help someone out in their project, buy cheaper ones and use the balance of the money for other projects on the car.
Good idea to keep them or sell and buy knock-offs?

As a 1958 owner myself, I think if you plan to keep you car and it won't be judged, you could make some decent money on your originals. You could buy the brass repro's and have a chrome shop finish them and be $1,500 - $2000 ahead.
But remember, they will never fit or look as nice as the originals. And you trunk lid will probably sag, too heavy.
