I am going to be installing a stroker 383 in my 64. I am trying to find out if I can use a Edlebrock Victor Jr. and a Mighty Demon 750 Carb. And get it under my hood. Has anyone used this combo?
I don't know about whether it will fit under the hood, but I put a small Demon (525 cfm) on my 327. It did not perform well at all. When I asked for help from Barry Grant the maker, I got zip. I later (after going to a 600 cfm Edelbrock) determined that the only difference between the small one and the next size up was the primary jet size. Changed those out from 0.058 to 0.070" and it now performs well on my stepson's 350 ci.
The point being, I will not use Demons because of their lack of attention to their purchasers.
I am envious of your problem with the 383. Good driving!
I am also trying to chose an intake manifold right now.
Dunno about hood clearance, but the Victor Jr advertises that it doesn't start making power 'til 3500 RPM. I think you need some "street unfriendly" ratio gears (or nitrous ) for this to be effective.
The Performer RPM might be a better choice if you plan to drive around on the street and not regularly zinging it up to 7000+ RPMs.
I am putting a 383 with an RPM air gap under a stock 63' hood with an Edelbrock 800 AVS series carb. I didn't think it would work, but I find that the air gap is only 1/32" taller than the old high rise holley dominator manifold.
I am going to shim the body about 1/4" higher than it was an check it, but I'm confident it will work well now.
