After purchasing numerous upper radiator hoses that didn't fit, I thought I'd share my recent findings. My '66 small block may be a combination of differing thermostat housing and replacement radiator, but the stock recommended hoses have always been too short. Someone mentioned a Dayco 70751, but I have been unable to find one.
After rummaging through Checkers radiator hose racks yesteday, I found what I think is the answer. Goodyear #62123, $14.99. I had to cut 2" off the length, and it gives greater fan belt clearance than the short stock one.
Just wanted to share with those that have had similar problems.
I think I have the 300 horse thermo. housing and the radiator is of unknown origin since it came with the car in a box of parts after 20 yrs in storage. I have tried hoses for both the 300 horse and 350 horse and both were too short. The Goodyear one I referenced is long enough to cover a multitude of sins. And, may be useful to those that have had a similar problem.
Nope, what rediator and Therm housing are you using?
Nope, with the correct De Witt replacement radiator and thermostat housing I have never seen a problem. With a Cu brass replacement, yes it seems many have the neck at an incorrect angle or are maybe shorter, not sure which.
Ralph, same thing happened to me on my 66 and the cause was the difference between suppliers of the hose itself. The two hoses differed, with one being about 2 inches too short, even though the part numbers were the same.
When I get home tonight I'll get the part number and post as reference.
25 year old brass replacement in my 66 has same problem. outlet is too far outboard and at wrong angle. I've always had to splice two sections to get a fit. Thanks for the tip...
Not everybody is into NCRS or correct parts, nor cares to spend the money to make it 'correct" and may need info like this.
Doug
Doug,
Not saying everyone must be into correct, just functionally the correct replacement from DeWitt has the best cooling capacity, the Cu Bbrass, just can not cut it with an A/C car.
Calm down guys. I was just trying to give those of us with short radiator hoses (no pun intended) and option. For me the Goodyear was a godsend. I just hope it helps someone else.

(gonefishn: Yours a 350 hp or 300 hp?)
Mine is a 350HP (L79) 1966. I'm using (what I believe is resto-correct) a GM upper hose with a light blue stripe and the GM part number stamped on it.
