Default 63 shift **** clarification

Does anybody know how you can tell if a 63 4 spd **** is original or repro? Not sure if the repros have the horizontal casting line on them or not. Did the originals have a brass insert for the threads or were they completely plastic? I know that it is supposed to 1.5 inches in diameter. Also, what is the correct part Number?

Thanks!

NCRS looks for that original casting, and my understanding is the originals are made of Bakelite (sp), the repops are plastic with no casting line. Problem is finding them...VERY VERY hard to find and if found on Ebay, to me not worth the price. I managed to pick one up on Ebay for around $75.00 in decent condition, it fit and fills the bill, but I have seen some recently going for hundreds....

Hope this helps
