For one of my winter projects I decided to have the radio restored . I started the car ( 66 vert ) and moved it around so I could work on it easier . Removed the radio and went to start the car and it just cranks , wont fire at all . I figured I must have knocked a wire off the ignition switch but they all seem fine . I figure Ill start looking for power at different places in the ignition sys . Does anyone have any hints to go about this step by step ? I imagine I should have power to the coil when the key is ON right . Also, the car has Pertronix II ignition and Im wondering if I could have screwed it up somehow . I should have disconnected the battery before I started the radio removal but............ too late now .
UPDATE ! I just found wire that was disconnected and pushed way up into the dash . It must have sprung up there if the radio got caught on it . Anyway, reconnected it and she runs again !
I'm still curious about the Pertronix though . Ive had it in the car for 2yrs now with no problems . Has anyone had any problems with it ??

Reason: up date
Congratulations on finding that wire and getting it running again. I know how frustrating that can be. I have Pertronix I igniters in two cars, and a complete Pertronix Flamethrower II distributor and coil in another. Found out the hard way that the early Flamethrower distributors didn't have an oil seal that they put in later production. Contacted Pertronix and they sent me an oil seal, and I tore the distributor apart and installed it. Now it's all good. Other than that, I've had no problems with any Pertronix product.
