alternator and VR
I currently have a 1 wire alternator in my '66 vert . I want to buy a chrome or polished one for a more snazzy look . I also want to leave as much of the engine compartment looking original as possible with the exception of the 383 stroker sitting in there . There is no added electrical load from the original . The only electrical option is power windows , although I did add a Pertronix II ignition .
My questions are : are the old Voltage Regulators reliable , and , will they work good with a new alternator ?
I dont have a clue as to what amperage the current alternator puts out . What amperage should I look for in a replacement ?

The original alternator was 37 amps, or 55 with A/C; either one was perfectly adequate.
